Supporting The Global Goals for
Sustainable Development

SMB Intelligence is committed to helping achieve the Sustainable Development Goals – 17 goals for a better world by 2030, set by the UN General Assembly in 2015.

We are focused on goals 1,5,8,10,14 & 17, by partnering with government agencies, nonprofits and corporations to build a stronger, more inclusive and sustainable small business ecosystem.

Small business is crucial to the economic and social well-being of communities, providing half of private sector jobs, retaining revenues in their communities at twice the rate of national chains, and providing a unique local character to neighborhoods, cities and states.

When small business owners can access a strong business ecosystem and utilize the right solutions from high quality providers, they are twice as likely to grow and create new jobs.
However, there is often a disconnect in the ecosystem, with many growth-motivated small businesses challenged to access the solutions they need, particularly those in distressed communities and with underserved owners.

SMB Intelligence provides innovative datasets and strategic insight to agencies, nonprofits and corporations, enabling them to better integrate themselves into the small business ecosystem, more effectively deliver growth solutions to new & high growth firms, and determine where those solutions can have the largest economic and social impact.

Small businesses help reduce poverty by creating new jobs, revitalizing distressed neighborhoods, and keeping wealth in the communities where it was created at nearly twice the rate of national chains. We help organizations identify & engage with new & high-growth firms – the small businesses currently most likely to experience substantial growth and create new jobs.

The number of women-owned firms is increasing significantly faster than male-owned firms, however women are more likely to face challenges accessing the resources they need to launch and expand. We help organizations identify & engage with new & high-growth women-owned small businesses, in order to ensure they have access to the resources they need to launch and expand.

Contrary to popular belief, the vast majority of small businesses do not grow and do not create new jobs. It is a small fraction of the sector – new and high growth firms, that are responsible for the vast majority of job creation. The foundation of our work is to promote the Prime Growth Approach – a nine step model to prioritize delivering support resources to new & high growth small businesses. We are currently working with state & local agencies to see the Prime Growth Approach implemented as policy.

Small businesses located in distressed and overlooked communities and with underserved owners are more likely to face challenges accessing the resources they need to launch and expand their firms. We help organizations identify and engage with these firms in order to ensure they have equal access to resources.
